Andritz VA TECH HYDRO to supply complete electro-mechanical equipment for the Xekaman 3 hydropower plant, Laos

Xekaman 3 Power Company, Laos, an affiliate of the largest Vietnamese construction group, Song Da, awarded an order to Andritz VA TECH HYDRO for supply of the complete electro-mechanical equipment for the Xekaman 3 hydropower plant. The order value is approximately 42 million USD.

The scope of supply encompasses two Francis turbine generator sets, governing system, automation and protection system, spherical valve and auxiliary systems as well as the complete switchyard. Song Da will take care of erection under the supervision of Andritz VA TECH HYDRO. Start of commercial operation is expected for April 2011.

With an output of 254 MW and at a net head of 515 meters, the plant, which is located in the catchment area of the Mekong river, near the Vietnamese border, will produce more than 1,000 GWh/a of electrical energy with almost 95% efficiency. This will secure electricity for approximately one million people in Laos and Vietnam.
