Betbull plc ('Betbull') announces grant of a Betting Licence to operate
retail betting premises in the Community of Madrid
The community of Madrid (CAM) today issued a licence to operate retail
betting in the Province of Madrid, to Betbull Bwin Espana SA (BBE) the
joint venture company launched last year between Betbull plc and Bwin
Interactive Entertainment.AG.
BBE has met all the requirements, both technical and financial, set by CAM
for the operation of a full betting licence for sports, horses and
greyhounds and will now initiate a roll out of retail premises, including
own shops and third party premises.
BBE will use the w1nners brand in Spain. The new logo and colour scheme was
launched last week at the Madrid gaming fair, where w1nners demonstrated
the betting products and services that will be offered in retail units,
including betting on live sports.
BBE has established a company headquarters in the heart of Madrid on the
famous Gran Via, from where all administration and bookmaking services will
be provided. A strong management team has been developed over the last 6
months in preparation for the planned openings.
Commenting on today’s release Simon Bold, director of Betbull plc said:
‘We are happy to announce the grant of our retail licence in Madrid, the
company has worked hard to fulfil the requirements of the Madrid Licensing
Authority and now feels confident to apply for licences in other Provinces
as and when legislation permits.
We see the Spanish market as the most promising European opportunity and
will concentrate our resources in this jurisdiction, whilst maintaining a
dominant position in the German retail environment.
Betbull is in good shape and reported a positive set of figures in Q2, over
the last year we have built a strong team in Spain and developed a retail
concept which we believe will be successful in the Province of Madrid and
throughout the country as a whole – we are looking forward to the
opportunity and challenge that this licence grant offers’
